ABBA: THE PERFECT FATHER
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”Romans 8:15
Over the years there has been series of discussions bothering on the legitimacy of Adopted children compared to Biological Children. While some traditional African might have a bias and tilt towards biological children, it does not in any way dampen the legitimacy of Adopted children as Heirs. What the redemptive sacrifice of Christ has made available and possible for all believers, is the qualification on all legal grounds; the rights, benefits, privileges and responsibilities of Children. This simply means, if Jesus calls God, “Father”, Believers stand in equal right to call God, “Father” and it won’t be termed blasphemy.
Having come to the reality of your status as a legitimate Child of God. Let’s take a look at the realities of this status, and get to understand our father in the light of his true nature, as against the previously held misconceptions, myths, and fables about him. The first truth about Our Abba is that He loves us so much that, He has become blind to our wrong doings and only sees us in the light of being his righteous children, Ephesians 5: 19 says “For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.” This verse informs us that we can never be on God’s bad side, as long as, we’ve recognized with Christ and have entered into the yard as children.
Another amazing thing about our Abba is the promise to always give us the best, in the book of Matthew 7: 9- 11, it says “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”. This verse is an assurance that if we are bold enough to make our request known to God, He is good enough to sort it out and meet our needs. There is this confidence that God pays attention to details in meeting our individual needs, He is that perfect. He understands every one of his children’s desires and He is caring enough to make provisions available for it.
Dear legitimate child of the Most-High God, it is high time you know your Father for who he truly is. You can’t afford to carry on this father-child relationship based on rumor or hearsay. Open yourself to understand him by: reading his biography (The bible), by gathering with your fellow siblings in your local church to learn about Him, and finally by maintaining communications with him daily through prayers. You will come to find out that the word “perfect” exist only because of our Abba. He is perfect in all sense of perfection.
