DARE TO BE DIFFERENT
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of GodRomans 12:2
We’ve been called to stand out, not to blend in as believers, to be different, to be a light to our world. A light that is not to be hidden but lit up on a hill, so as to showcase our Father. However, what does it mean to stand out? To stand out means to be different, it can also mean to attract attention because you perform better at something. You cannot Influence what you try so hard to be like!
Let’s consider Noah for the sake of how extreme it was in his day that it warranted the flood.
Gen.7.1 – Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.
In his generation, Noah stood out, not allowing the prevailing culture to determine his own disposition and conduct. This shows that as Christians we can and ought to stand out. Many times as Christians we are not at liberty to do certain things, not because they are wrong (in the context of how people describe right and wrong) or the Bible is against them, but it’s just simply because we are not such that’s easily influenced by trends and slangs. A good example will be the usage of litotes and mannerisms; as a Christian, you can culture yourself that you will not be swayed into using unedifying languages, mannerisms and all such things.
We have been called to life unto God and we must live in that consciousness, seeking to walk pleasing to Him in all our ways.
To stand out as a believer requires you to infuse your daily life with the word of God, put your beliefs into everyday practice and set a good example to everyone around you.
