“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”Ephesians 6:10
Sometimes in life, we go through situations of deep distress and pain, which may possibly cause us to even begin to doubt God’s love for us and His supremacy over our situation or circumstance. However, God’s desire for us is that during times of affliction, we remain trusting and confident in Him.
Jesus said, “In this world, you would face many tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
By this verse, it is noteworthy that Jesus didn’t give us the hope of a trouble-free life. He never said there will be no trouble or tribulation. The bible is replete with information to let us know that we have an adversary who doesn’t have goodwill toward us and by this, we know that even though God means good for His people, there’s an adversary. (Romans 16:20, 2 Timothy 4:18, 1 Peter 5:8).
And so, we ought not to let ourselves get boxed down by the seemingly unpleasant situations, instead, we ought to rest in the victory of Christ Jesus.
Moreover, the word encourages us to “endure suffering as a good soldier of Christ.” (2 Timothy 2:3-4). Thus, instead of complaining and murmuring to God like the children of Israel were prone to do, believers should be willing to endure through such tough times with assurance in the word of God.
1 Pet. 5:10 reminds us, “But may the God of all grace, who called us to an eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”
Whatever a believer may be going through, one thing is certain if he can rest, he will see the goodness of God. The psalmist said I would have fainted unless I have believed to see the goodness of God in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13). The victory of the believer is certain, for Jesus has overcome. The Lion has prevailed for you!
