Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

Hebrews 13:9

From our opening verse, we see that for any believer to be deeply rooted and become established, such must understand the message of the Christian faith, the message of grace, that’s where the whole thing starts from.

The Apostle puts it this way, saying; “I commend you to God and to the word of His grace which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among them that are sanctified” Acts 20:32

There are things that are crucial, however, for the establishing of a believer:

If the heart will be established with grace and not with sacrifices then it definitely must have been listening to the word of His grace from a preacher that teaches the same.

As a minister of the gospel and a concerned believer, I’ve understood that it is not just God’s desire that men be saved, filled with the Holy Ghost, as good as those are; those are God’s primary desire quite alright. However, the Father desires for men who are saved to grow up and reach maturity.

We’re living in unfavorable days where cultures and human philosophies are challenging some foundations of the Christian faith, in sight of this, need we not ensure that our root is deepened enough lest we be swayed off our persuasion?

1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Though the verse above, in context, points to abounding in service to the Lord, but it equally makes sense to look at it in the light of the emphasis it’s giving — to be steadfast, unmovable. To have one’s root deepened so much so that it cannot be shaken. This gives an idea of someone that has been completely immersed or indoctrinated, so much that it will be difficult for anyone or anything to sway. This is who God wants us to be in Him.

You are growing, when you have become deeply immersed and inundated with the truth of the word, to the point where your heart is established in the same.

Ephesians 4:11-15 KJV
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Friends, it is God’s desire that we are established in the faith, grounded, rooted, and to achieve this, He gave believers ministry gifts to bring them up in the things of God. It is by taking full advantage of the teaching of your ministry gift/pastor that you’re established. Hallelujah! I hope you’re blessed today?
