EXERCISING AUTHORITY

EXERCISING AUTHORITY

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you”.

Luke 10:19

Our responses to the vicissitudes of life are determined by how conscious we are of our authority in Christ. The moment we can grasp the gravity of what our authority in Christ is, we begin to lead triumphant lives.

What we see in the earthly walk of Jesus is a walk of power and authority, we see Jesus exercising this authority throughout his walk on earth. He exercised authority over sicknesses, He exercised authority over nature, over the forces of darkness, over sin, over life and death. In every area of his life, he exercised authority, and amazing part of this is that he has given us that same authority! We have that same authority; not just the authority of Jesus that walked the earth but that of the risen Christ who is sitted at the right hand of the Father.

In John 14:12 Christ Himself tells us as believers, we would do greater works than Christ did.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall He do also; and greater works than these shall He do; because I go unto my Father. [John 14:12]

Jesus being our prototype, the first born of many sons, in Him we see a clear representation of what we should look like. 1 John 4:17 tells us that as He is, so are we in this world.

We as believers are born to rule, reign and exercise dominion. Actually, this has been God’s plan from the beginning. He told Adam “subdue the earth, have dominion over it” Genesis 1:28. In this, it is safe to say we were created to have dominion and have rule over the earth.

The believer has power and authority over sicknesses, diseases, and every work of the devil. From the word we see that “When he had called his twelve disciples to him, he gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.” (Matthew 10:1). At no point has the kingdom of God ever been void of power, and we are of the kingdom, we have been brought into the kingdom of God’s dear son just as Colossians 1:13 reveal to us. If we have this ideology, we will further understand what it means to share in the authority of Jesus.

The Lord Jesus the one with all power has given us authority.

He has made us kings over the domineering forces of this earth. Glory to God.

Confession: I confess that I am a carrier of God’s power. I heal the sick, I cast out demons and I preach the gospel with the authority that Christ has given me. My words are backed up with power and authority. Glory to God
