And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

Many times I have come across believers burning out and wondering why? They say “once upon a time, I used to be like this and like that” what happened? The flames were put out, they were not kept burning. Like a fan that is still rolling after the power had been cut out, it’s only a matter of time before it comes to a halt. You can’t afford to leave your spiritual growth to chance, it’s God’s desire to see you grow, to see you burn with fervoUr and zeal, and guess what you have the ability to, if you didn’t we wouldn’t have been asked to in Rom.12.11 – not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; The apostle put the responsibility on us not be lagging in diligence and be fervent in Spirit, serving the Lord.

2Tim.1.5 – when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 2Tim.1.6 – Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2Tim.1.7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Notice Apostle Paul acknowledging the genuine Faith is Timothy, which was first in grandmother and then His mother,  then he also about his interaction with Timothy which must have led to impartation in Timothy by the laying of hands, yes telling Timothy to STIR IT UP!

You may have come from a rich lineage of spiritual giants and may have grown under the best and anointed ministers of God or you may have not, the difference will be in those that Stir up the gifts in them. Those that continue to Fan the flames within them.

This is our responsibility as believers, we must desire to grow, and we must desire to see our Spiritual growth gain stature and maturity, let’s look at 1Tim.4.14 – Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 1Tim.4.15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, so that your progress may be evident to all. 1Tim.4.16 – Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

We must give our entirely to this, to prayer, to study of God’s words, to service to God and the church, to doctrine, if we do this our profiting will be evident to all.
