GOD’S WORD HEALS
“He sent his word, and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.”Psalm107:20
The word of God heals just as we can see in our opening text because as we have learnt in previous teachings the Word is our Lord Jesus John 1 vs 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”, who was sent to heal and deliver as many as would believe in him from their destructions.
When we read Num 21 vs 4-9, we see the account of the children of Isreal being bitten by fiery snakes because of their sin against God and how God commanded Moses to make a statue of a fiery snake and put it on a pole so that whoever shall look upon it shall live and we understand what truly transpired how that statue represents Jesus who also in like manner hung on the cross in John 3 vs 14-15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so, must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
Whenever the word is being preached as well, the power to heal is always available in that gathering as we see when Jesus was teaching in Luke5:17 “And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judæa, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” The power to heal flows wherever the word of God is being taught because by teaching the word faith is being stirred up; Romans10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” we know that where faith is applied God is pleased and the hand of God moves mightily because God is pleased where faith abounds Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
In believing in Christ Jesus and looking upon him, we are healed of every turmoil we might be going through be it physical, spiritual, mental or in any area of life that we need healing. Even a depressed heart can be healed by the application of the word and be comforted and someone who has given up can have hope in him; Romans 15 vs 4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” And we as well have been given the power to heal with recourse to the word. God’s word has the potential to it, Get into the word and stand on it.
