For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose Him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days, He has been revealed for your sake.

1 Peter 1: 18-20

As a believer, this is the bedrock of our belief; this awesome sacrifice made by Christ Jesus. If as a believer, you get every other thing right but fail to truly understand the essence of this Sacrifice then you have not truly understood anything. So today let us shine a little light on this solid rock on which our belief is founded.

The book of Romans accurately explains and paints the picture of the Redemption we have received, Romans 3: 23-26 says “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when He held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for He was looking ahead and including them in what He would do in this present time.  God did this to demonstrate His righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and He declares sinners to be right in His sight when they believe in Jesus”

From this scripture, we are made to understand the essence of this great sacrifice and it also reflects what we need to do to step into the provisions of this sacrifice. The scripture says “He declares sinners to be right in His sight when they believe in Jesus”. So, believing in Jesus is the only criteria required for this transfer of ownership and to step into the redemption of Christ.

If you take nothing home from today’s devotional, hold firmly to this truth: Christ paid dearly to have you on God’s side, once you believe in this transaction, you’re secured by the terms binding the transaction. What this means is that you have been bought completely and you’re no longer open to further negotiations, in fact, you have been taken far from the marketplace, and you are now God’s treasured asset. The blood of Christ is your Life insurance. You’re covered and sealed by this covenant.
