“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.Matthew 5: 14
In understanding the topic of discussion today, it is important to know that this scripture is not suggestive in nature, it does not say “you might be the light of the world” nor was it written in the future tense to mean, “you will be the light of the world”. The scripture brings to your consciousness in an affirmative manner, that “you are the light of the world!”.
The Bible admonishes us to shine as lights in Phil.2.15 – that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world- we are to light up this dark world, in every sector, in every sphere of our influence, we must shine our lights!
We must hold this view about ourselves, the darkness doesn’t dim the light, the light dims itself and the darkness increases, John.1.5 – And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. When the night comes and everywhere is dark, it’s not because the sun is no longer shining but because the earth has turned away from the sun. As Light bearers, we have a responsibility to influence our world with the light of God’s words, we significantly influence the cultures, beliefs and actions of those around us. We have a Series called “INDUCE” if you can you should listen to it. (Check Our Spotify/YouTube @ Heirs church).
As believers we are the needed not the needy, the Victor and not the victim, you must see yourself as the answer and not the problem. When your light shines, you bring life to men- the bible speaks of Christ saying he was the light and the light was the life of men (John 1:4) As Light bearers, we bear witness to the life of God, the moment we saw the light of the Gospel, we receive the life of God, this what our light seeks to do also, introduce the life of God to all men.
Matt.5.16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
