LIVING WITH THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE FATHERS LOVE
“For you did not receive the Spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out “Abba, Father.”Romans 8: 15
One of the things you must know as a believer is that Christianity is not only just a religion but also a family. When men get born again, that is saved, they become sons of God, even as the gospel according to St John chapter 1:12 alludes to this, that “as many as received Him to them gave He power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on His name”.
God being the Father desires that men become sons.
1John 3:1 further alludes to this- “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”
Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection paved the way for many men to become sons of God, with Him being the first begotten, the rest of us too have become sons when we believed in His redemptive work and therefore share in the lineage of the Divine. Also, the way Jesus was loved by the heavenly Father, is the way you are loved as a Son. “In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.” John 16:26-27
Jesus says the Father loves you, loves everyone who already believes in Him. God is a good father who loves us and he desires that every believer should know his love experientially. We see Jesus Christ constantly referring to God as his Father. John 3:16, John 11:35
If we have been called to be sons, then we must understand how the Father sees and relates with us. The greatest demonstration of the love the Father has for us is in giving his only son for us.
1John 3:1 uses the word bestowed which also means “lavished”. The Father has lavished His love on you. It’s love without limits. Think about it: we who shouldn’t have been known of God, who shouldn’t have ever come close to God are now, as a result of the superabundant love He’s lavished upon us, accepted by Him. We’re now called the sons of God. What an amazing reality!
Take out time always to meditate and reflect on the love of God. Think about His grace, kindness and the fact that if you were the only one on earth, the Lord Jesus would still have given His life for you. That’s how valuable you are to God. Dare to believe this and let it sink deep into your consciousness; it’ll change your life forever and give you new confidence.
