For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:17

The power and the efficacy of our faith is not in our efforts, but in the one who has freely offered us salvation. Many times, we are always caught in the web of trying to find right standing with God, and we do this by striving so hard to try to please God. A part of human’s consciousness, known as the sin nature present in every man from birth, constantly creates a blockade to attaining closure with God, by mounting pressure on the mind to be conscious of its imperfections and weaknesses, as against God’s standard of holiness and righteousness. God’s standard of righteousness is simply: From one; by one; of one; through one; to all.

As presented in this morning’s anchor scripture we can observe God’s pattern to creation and procreation. We can notice from the creation story in genesis, that God only made a pair of each creature, and commanded that they procreate in that order – each creature according to its kind. So, what this means is that from the time of Adam, every lineage of man shared of the genes and the nature of Adam, we can all conclude therefore that God’s pattern to creation is hereditary. Through Adam, we did not only adopt the physical and biological composition of Adam, we also inherited the spiritual implication of his actions.

As a result of this, all humanity found themselves in sin. God in his attempt to redeem man had to suspend the natural order of conception by procreating himself through a virgin lady. In so doing, God created a new lineage of hope for man in Christ Jesus. Christ had to come as man (the representation of Adam) to bear the sin of all humanity and in so doing offer redemption to all who would believe in his finished work on the cross. So, in this new order, once we believe in Christ Jesus, we acknowledge that we are of his lineage and at such we have inherited righteousness and holiness in him. Just as we did not have to sin to inherit sin, the same way we obtain righteousness in Christ Jesus, not by our works, but by his finished on the cross of calvary.

This is how we “Look and Live”, we simply look outside our imperfections and weaknesses, then look unto the savior, who is in all sense perfect and righteous, in Him, whom the father derives great pleasure and joy. He is the one who has made a way for us to gain access to the father, in that in ourselves we don’t qualify but we come heavily recommended and qualified in Christ Jesus.

The blood of Jesus is our qualification to life and everything God offers. Acts 17: 28 says “for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.” Galatians 2: 20 further buttresses this point, it says “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

This is the salvation we have received, that we no longer have to try so hard in ourselves to please God, but in looking unto Jesus, who is the author and the finisher of our faith, we stand assured that the Father delights in us, and that we are loved of him. This is our guaranty to fulfillment and living a prosperous life in Christ Jesus.
