And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy”.

(Matthew 3: 17)

In this morning’s anchor scripture, we see an event that took place at Jordan, it was the point where John baptized Jesus. This was that point that revealed Christ as the son of God and further serves as the fulfilment of the long-awaited promise of a saviour. It was obvious to all the men who followed Christ that his ministry had the Father’s backing. Similarly, many believers today can tell of the Father’s love, The truth, however, is that this concept is becoming a cliché and we find believers struggling to live in the reality of the Father’s love.

Living in the reality of the Father’s love brings you to a consciousness of your rights and privileges as a son. It implies that you’re living up to the prestige of your Father and you’re proudly representing the Father’s legacy. The assurance of the Father’s love gives the believer great confidence and peace in the face of persecution, turmoil and trials. A believer who knows and is assured of the Father’s love is not one to be scared nor fidget, that assurance provokes boldness and confidence. This kind of love is the purest kind of love there is; It does not boast, it does not fail, it can be trusted, it is reliable, it is readily available, it is not time-bound, it is selfless and all-round perfect.

In John, the scriptures introduce the believer to his newfound reality and consciousness in Christ. 1 John 3:1 says “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.”

The Father’s love bestows on us the inheritance that was made available to Christ. This love translates that the father is forever pleased with us because we are his own. This love gives us access to living a supernatural life as heirs of a supernatural God. Due to this love, we are boundless and limitless. The believer needs to constantly bear in mind, that He is of the Father and the Love of the Father towards him is undying, unfailing and unchanging. The love covers all the iniquities and shortcomings and makes room for development and spiritual transformation.

Dear Believer, remember we are joint heirs of God, we are loved by the father. This is beyond motivation, that is our reality.
