MINISTRY GIFTS

Therefore take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Acts 20:28

The Greek word translated to ” pastor” literally means “Shepherd”.

God calls men and equips them to Shepherd or pastor a flock. The Shepherds are necessary for the maturity, equipping, and edifying of the saints. Ephesians 4:11-12 made it clear that pastors were sent to us to edify us, to make us grow and nurture us. As believers began to gather together in the new testament in recognized local churches, they needed certain people to exercise the position of loving oversight and care, that’s the position of the ministry gifts (pastors).   Jesus had compassion upon people “scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd” (Matt. 9:36). Sheep without shepherds are scattered abroad – they go astray.

We see this in groups where there is no shepherd.

One of the greatest gifts we’ve received from God is our ministry gifts (Pastors) Jer.3.15 – And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. They were sent from God to bring us to the knowledge of God’s love to make us know how much God loves us and what we’ve received through salvation. God made them the overseers and they’ve given their selves wholeheartedly to serve us.

1 Corinthians 3:2 They nurture us from being babes to adulthood, they are our Spiritual parents because they started from preaching the gospel to us in order to bring us into salvation, then made us understand what we’ve received through salvation and they are very much interested in seeing us grow and improve.

There are things that God wants to do in the life of His people but He can’t go all by Himself, He needs delivery men (pastors).

It is our responsibility to love, Obey and support them.
