For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. –1 Corinthians 12:12
The Bible uses the term “Body” to describe the universal church and this cannot be any less accurate. If you have ever hit your smallest toe against a wall or an object and felt the pain course throughout your body or when you have a pain or discomfort in one part of your body that makes your whole being just less active than usual, you can be reminded of how connected and important every part of your body is.
Your local church is important and belonging to a good one is expedient. You must also recognize your local church is a member of the Body: The body of Christ.
Believers ought to be taught to highly esteem the body, as we honour and love our local church we should avoid the extreme of having a disregard for the body of Christ.
Eph.4.16 – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
We are one body in Christ! We are to supply to one another leading up to edification.
God’s grace is what sustains all ministries in Christ.(Romans 12:6),having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us .What we are in our differing individuality we are by grace. You will find that when you start loving the church in practical ways, we will be spurring one another to love and good works.
The final application of this message is that we believe your participation in a small believer’s group will help you become who God created you in Christ to be and will help you fulfill God’s vision for us as a mutually ministering body of believers with varied gifts.
