Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

1 John 4.15

This is one revelation that for all our lives we will need to keep uncovering. Wow! What a thing; to be equal with God. Unfortunately, for some other believers, they are afraid to acknowledge or confess this truth, they will rather settle with knowing only that God saved them from their sin and that is where they camp. Then they are caught up with legalistic pursuit to try to “Please” God. However, the salvation package includes justification which is our redemption and righteousness. God made us be partakers of His very life, He is pleased to be at home in us.

1Cor.1.30 reveals to us that – “But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God–and righteousness and sanctification and redemption”

God did not just save us and leave us like that, as great as that is, he went much further and gave us His very life. We now share in His identity and by this, we have oneness with Him.

Let’s take note of the verses in Eph.2.4 – But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

Eph.2.5 – even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

Eph.2.6 – and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

You see in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, we were united with him, when he died, we died, when he was buried, we were buried with him and when God raised him back to life, we were raised back to life. This is the best way to see your salvation experience. Comparatively, it’s not the same when Potiphar purchased Joseph to be a slave to when the Pharoah took him from the prison and made him prime minister over Egypt. The latter was surely better. We now share in the likeness of God, we are together as one, just as 1Cor.6.17 corroborates –“ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him”.

This is such a liberating reality in Christ to live by, that you are one with God, so no other contrary nature can have any place in you. That means you can’t have Christ (who is God) in you and still have the nature of sin co-dwelling in the same habitat. You’ve been set free my friend, you just need to know how to walk in the freedom of redemption, to experientially overcome sinful habits.

Confession: I rejoice that I am saved, much more I rejoice that I have been made one with God, sharing in his divine life and privileges. Glory to God!
