“Pray without ceasing.”1 Thessalonians 5:17
Prayer is communication and communion with God.It is the act of Koinonia which is fellowship with God. Prayer before now was interpreted to as making request from God but we know it’s not only request you use prayer for, prayer is the communication medium by which request can be made known as well Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” These request doesn’t necessarily mean needs and wants alone, it can also be a request of knowing God more and fellowship with him Philippians 3:10 “that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;”. This was Moses prayer in Exodus 33 vs 13 “Now, therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.”
Another thing prayer helps us with is making power much more available just as we see in James 5:16(AMP) “Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” When we pray persistently, tremendous power is made available, you are opened up more to the consciousness of the power you already received at salvation when you pray fervently and when it’s heart felt.
As we pray, our faith is being built up Jude 1:20 “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,”we become more confident and bold about even our conviction Jesus and his sacrifice, even Peter who denied Jesus when he was filled with the Holyghost he became bold and he spoke about him with confidence Acts 4:8 “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,” when we pray in the holyghost it is of more effect because the spirit makes intercession for us by searching all things;Romans 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
If you study the Bible very well you will see that Our lord Jesus will always withdraw from the disciples and people to pray just as he charged them in Luke 18:1 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” and he himself all through his time on earth in the flesh he prayed earnestly because of the task ahead Hebrews 5:7 “Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;” he knew he needed to be strengthened for the journey ahead and after he had prayed earnestly he was strengthened.
Whatever the situation might be, we need to stay in the place of prayer and keep praying through that period and seek him continually and whole heartedly Jeremiah 29:13 “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” whenever we are going through trials, tribulations and turbulent times, we should pray through that period for strength, comfort and direction and he will surely answer.
