In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

(John 1:1)

This scripture opens us to the reality that “The word” is not just any spoken or written word but refers to God. If we study the preceding verses of this scripture, we would discover that “The word” was not directly pointing to the father, but to Jesus Christ who is in all sense, God. We all agree that God refers to the trinity, i.e. The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. This we can ascertain from the way God revealed and manifested himself through the scriptures. The most important and succinct revelation of God in the scripture is found in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. “The word” therefore, is not just every inch of the scripture, but the word of grace, found in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

The reality of life is that everything new comes with a user’s manual that instructs the user on the functions, features, usage, instruction, maintenance, and care of the gadget. Likewise “The word” supplies the believer with the truth, and guides him to understand the features, functions, instructions, maintenance, and care of the new life that has been received in Christ Jesus. Better put, “The word” dictates and models the perfect way of life for every believer. The scriptures in John 5: 19 said, “Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does”.  This is a typical representation of God’s plan for a believer, which is why He had to come in the flesh to set a model for us and serve as a perfect example for his children to model after.

Hence, as a believer, your life should radiate after God’s model and stand firmly on “The word”. The only way you can truly live is by believing in all that God has done for you in Christ Jesus. When you stand firm on God’s word and the truth of his word you are assured of a fulfilled life. Truth be told, the only way you can do what the Father does is by first doing what the father says. So you have to constantly remind yourself from time to time, in whatever situation you find yourself, what has the Father said? I would assist you with one thing the father has said in Romans 8, it says:

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies”. (Romans 8: 31-33)

This truth you will discover when you stay rooted in the word. Dear believer the biggest favor you can do for yourself is by staying rooted in the word.
