“not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Hebrews 10:25

Serving one another is closely related to our identity as Christians .We serve because Christ did. Christ came to earth to serve. In leaving all His glory and coming down to earth ,He performed the greatest act of service to God and mankind .

In the body of Christ ,no role is insignificant and each of us have several roles to play if our community is to function well and thrive .

Apostle Paul continues this line of thought in another letter ,“so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”-Romans 12:5

The implication of us as members of one another is that our participation in the life and proper functioning of the church should be seen as a joyful responsibility.

In fact, our love and service to one another in the church is the mark of a Christian. It is how the world knows that we belong to Christ. All Christians acts of love and service to one another are glory makers pointing and reflecting back to the one who loved us first.

Jesus prayed that the church would be united as one so that the world would know that God sent Him to atone for sin.

When we love and serve one another,we testify to who Christ is. We cannot expect the world to believe that the father sent the son ,that Jesus’ claims are true and that Christianity is true unless the world sees some realities of the oneness of true Christians.

1Pet.1.22 – Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

Our union with one another in the body of Christ has a high and important goal which is “love”.

It is the inevitable result of being in union with our Savior .His love pours into us and we extend that love to others.

As believers, because we are united to the same savior ,we experience and receive the same love from Him.And because He loves us,we love one another .

The ways we serve one another no matter how big or small are acts of Christian love in the family of God.
