THE GRAND PLAN OF SALVATION

THE GRAND PLAN OF SALVATION

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

(John 3:16)

This scripture is probably the only verse a lot of believers can quote from their memories. It is funny how we all know this passage of the bible but has failed to pay attention to the lexicons used in the construct of this verse. So today let us try to understand the salvation we all take to heart. What is in salvation for us? What do we really get to benefit from this salvation? I know a lot of you might be quick to say heaven, but, really, is that all there is to salvation? So, follow me let’s get to understand salvation together.

To understand the plan of salvation, I believe it is right we know the source. The introductory sentence of our anchor scripture unveils God as the source of salvation. The sentence also helps us understand that the motive behind salvation is “Love”. Reading further, we can also see that the action that made salvation possible was “gifting the world his only begotten son”. This then leaves us with the responsibility of receiving the gift, and the scripture once again helps us to understand that the only way we can take delivery of this gift is by believing in the begotten son, Jesus. So, the resulting effect of receiving this gift is that everyone who receives it will never perish but enjoy eternal life. Our anchor scripture today explains how we come into salvation, but, in understanding the plan of salvation in totality, we must understand everything that comes with salvation. It is like unboxing a new phone, you would always find other gadgets in the box asides from the mobile phone, to help the user maximally enjoy the phone.

As believers, the first thing to know is that the only thing that shows that we have received the gift of salvation is the workings of the “holy spirit”, Romans 8:15 says “ So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children.[h] Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”  This tells us that definitely there is a spirit we have received when we believe in Christ, and then it leads us to what the spirit does in us and for us, in that it makes us “children” so we can call God “Abba Father”. Hence, the master plan of salvation is to get every believer to the place of sonship. Sonship is the endpoint of salvation, Romans 8:16 says “ For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.” Once you get to the place of understanding this, then every other responsibility, benefit and blessing comes easy.

As a believer, it is important to know that the end point of salvation is that God wants to get you to a place where you’re fully convinced that you’re a “Son”. Everything available to enjoy and carry out as a responsibility is easier obtained once we come to the knowledge that we are “Abba’s legitimate children”.

DECLARATION: I AM A SON OF GOD. I KNOW FOR A FACT AND I BELIEVE COMPLETELY IN THE REDEMPTIVE WORK OF CHRIST. ALL THAT CHRIST MADE POSSIBLE IS FOR ME; TO BECOME LIKE HIM, TO BE SEEN LIKE HIM, TO ACT LIKE HIM AND TO MOVE IN THE CONSCIOUSNESS THAT I AM TRULY HIS OWN.
