“looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:2‬‬

Hope as we learned in recent times is God’s concept and system on earth to make men think positively and is from the word “Elpis” which means the confident expectation of things, and in this case, we can say the confident expectations of the cross, which talks about all Christ did on the cross for us and the realities we enjoy today because of that very sacrifice.

A lot of things have been made available to us by the sacrifice of our lord Jesus on the cross and the greatest of them is Salvation, “so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Hebrews 9:28, this is the major reason why Christ died so that we will be saved from death; spiritual death, Colossians 2:13-14 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;” how he took us from being dead in sin to having life in believing John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” and as well nailed on the cross every of such ordinances and quickened us together with him and this we know is the greatest gift to mankind.

Another important thing that we were given is eternal life, which is the life of Christ, John 3:14-15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so, must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” In believing in Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross we have eternal life. And eternal life we have is because Jesus has abolished the enmity between God and man and we now have peace with God and now live the God kind of life Ephesians 2:16 “and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:” we are no longer enemies of God but now children of God, loved dearly by God because even before we could ask he had already given his son for our redemption, Romans 5 vs 8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Our hope in the cross is assured in the very fact that Jesus never gave up but endured so that we have victory and joy and because he is seated at the right hand of God we are also seated with him in heavenly places Ephesians 2:6 “and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”

Confession: I confess today that my hope is in the cross and there is nothing more I want and need because all has been provided for by the sacrifice of Christ Jesus on the cross.
