And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

Luke 18:27

The greatest miracle to ever exist is salvation, that by the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, we now have access to the Father. That by believing and confessing in His lordship we can be saved. Seems too good to be true right? That’s exactly what a miracle is.

Miracle is God bending, suspending or using the laws of nature to do the impossible.

Miracles can not be explained logically. All the miracles that Jesus performed could not be explained by human senses. Mark 8:23,

Miracles are part of the work of the spirit. Galatians 3:5

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Faith is the grounds for our experience of miracles.

Just as clearly as Paul in Galatians 3:1-5 ruled out works as the reason why we receive God’s Spirit he affirms that faith is the cause, faith is the instrument, faith is the grounds for our experience of the Spirit.

The faith to experience miracles comes from hearing.

Faith is the response of the response of the human spirit to the word of God. Anytime the truth about God and the gospel of Jesus Christ is heard and believed and trusted and treasured and embraced, it builds our faith and God responds to faith.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

It is important to know that it is God that ultimately performs miracles albeit through man hence we need to have confidence in the character of God. Jesus in John 11:42-43 shows that as much as he had the ability to perform miracles, his confidence was still in God’s person

John 11:42-43

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me

Miracles bring glory to God’s name and draws attention to Christ and to the gospel. It is not an end in itself, it’s a means to an end

Mark 16:20

And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed.
