“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

1 John‭5:4‬‬

As we know that to be assured or assurance itself simply means being free from doubt and having confidence in someone or something and being assured by someone is having a confident belief in the person’s ability to fulfil what has been said to be done. The level of assurance you can have in someone as regards anything is dependent on the ability of that person in carrying it out which has been proven over time by the person by his/her track record in previous times and in our case we have been assured of victory in Christ Jesus. And we know that to be victorious means to overcome and subdue

1 Corinthians 15:57 says  “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” This is apostle Paul confidently writing and appraising God for the victory that we already have in Christ and not a victory to come, as we know that the act of thanking or appreciating someone is for something done already so it’s no surprise apostle Paul was also thanking God because this victory is already sealed. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Jesus has assured us in this scripture that in him our peace is assured and even though there are tribulations in the world we should not be worried because he has overcome the world therefore we are the ones to live in that victory here on earth.

Our opening text reveals to us that whatsoever is born of God already overcomes this world because Jesus has already overcome this world already and the very next verse 1 John 5: 5 “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” Let us know that in believing Jesus is the son of God we are overcomers and will continually live in victory. As long as we believe in Jesus the son Of God, we live a victorious life.

As children of God, we are assured that because we have a victorious father, we will always live victoriously not by our strength but because we have the greater one in us, we have the father at work in us, 1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.” This is our assurance, we have the greater one in us wherever and whenever and that is the confidence we stand on that our victory is already settled.

Brethren this is the confidence we have as believers that in believing, we are assured of victory because forever his word is settled in heaven and we have that settlement as our reality here on earth.
