VICTORY OVER DEATH

VICTORY OVER DEATH

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

Rev.1.18

Not a few people know the popular John.3.16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

That scripture is probably one of the most memorized scriptures, yet the concept of everlasting life has been misconstrued to mean many things. Christ came to achieve a great thing for humanity. His death, burial and resurrection brought Salvation and whoever believes in Him will have everlasting life. Does it mean we will never die? No but it means through Jesus’ death, we’ve been saved we’re now like Him and He has given us authority over sin and death which means before His death, we were slaves to death and sin but after His death, we received eternal life.

Now because of eternal life, which came into us when He gave us of His Spirit at the new birth and It is even only by the indwelling of this Spirit that our own spirit came alive and so because we have the life of God we are no longer under the bondage of death.

The book of Hebrews 2.14-15 further validates this – “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, – and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

If you had never come across the above scripture, you should read it again! This is so wonderful and relieving. We who once were in bondage to the fear of death, but now we are in Christ, we share in his victory over death. In his death, which we were in together with him, he destroyed the power of death.

So through Jesus’ death, we’ve received eternal life because we already have a place in heaven which means even after the physical death here on earth, we’re still going to reign with Him forever. You have been delivered from the fear of death, now you should walk in that freedom.  As you meditate on this truth and bring your mind to the consciousness of it, it will let you see that resurrection of the dead both the physically dead and the Spiritually dead (the lost) is possible.
