Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

 Psalms 119:105

The word of God is powerful, the word of God is light, and the word of God is direction. So, we must have a good understanding of what the word of God is about.

2 Timothy 2:15 There is a way to rightly divide and study the word of truth. When you read a letter, You’re to understand the meaning of what was written not cook up your own meaning. This is the same way the bible should be read.  There is a destination in view whenever you’re reading the Bible which is the intended purpose of the author. It is in the discovery of Christ in the word that we see the Revelation of the glory of God. We must read the Bible through the lens of the finished works of Christ, His death, burial, resurrection and what we’ve received through Christ. This explains that everything in the bible talks about the finished works of Christ, Even the Old Testament is a pointer to what Christ is coming to do in the New Testament.

Luke3:1- 21John the Baptist was sent as a forerunner to prepare the way for the coming Messiah, One of the ways by which John prepared the way for the Messiah is preaching. He prepares the people’s minds about the coming saviour.

John 1:22- 33 John was sent with an assignment to reveal Christ and humanly speaking he didn’t know even know Jesus but He believed the word of God, he what God has told him, He believed that truly the Messiah will come, He just held on to God’s word. This is the same way we must believe in God’s word and hold to His word, even when everything around us doesn’t look like it but because we know how powerful the word of God is we just know that God’s word will always come to pass.  Psalm 138:2 explains that God gives honour to his word than His name because God’s word is powerful.

The reason why some believers are not strong enough is that they don’t know the potency of the word. Everything we need as believers are already in the word which means everything you’ve been looking for is in your hands but you do not know how to use it.

This explains that times when we are faced with problems and tribulations, it’s our responsibility to believe in God’s word and hold on to it, For instance, when everything is not going well financially, You must begin to declare the word of God about provision like

Philippians 4:19 (But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.) Declare the word of God over that situation and declare God’s promises. THE WORD IS POWERFUL.
